Episode 220 – Ashley Connell

Join us on The Hero Show as we talk to Ashley Connell, Founder and CEO of Prowess Project. Discover how she’s championing gender equality and breaking down the 9-5 workday status quo. Get inspired by her insights, experiences, and strategies that will motivate you to make a real difference in the world of work.

Ashley Connell’s journey as an entrepreneur began during her time as an intern when she experienced firsthand the power of entrepreneurship. This led her to run global marketing for a tech company and start her own marketing agency in London. From these experiences, Ashley realized the importance of helping overwhelmed entrepreneurs make smarter decisions, ultimately inspiring her to create the Prowess Project.

Prowess Project is an organization that seeks to promote gender equality in the workforce and challenge the notion that individuals who take time off from their careers are not as qualified. Women, in particular, often face a “motherhood penalty” in Corporate America, where they lose an average of $10-16,000 per year in salary after having children due to a bias against them being seen as “distracted.” The Prowess Project is working to debunk this myth and recognize stay-at-home moms as heroes while proving that having both a career and raising children is achievable.

Through a mastermind group, Ashley Connell realized the potential of leveraging women’s skills in the community, which inspired her to create the Prowess Project. By creating a supportive community and providing practical tools for success, Prowess Project empowers women to succeed in the workforce on their terms. The organization provides various resources, including mastermind groups, job matching services, and career coaching, to help women return to work after taking a break to raise children or for other personal reasons.

At the heart of the Prowess Project is the belief that women should have their “cake and eat it” – meaning they should be able to have a successful career while raising a family if that is what they desire. By leveraging women’s unique skills and providing them with the support and resources they need, Prowess Project is making strides towards creating a more inclusive and empowering workforce for all.
